Dealing with Loss
her eyes reached as far as her eyes can see. the world below appeared mostly flat and dead, except for a skein of geese and other migratory birds drifting south west as fall continues to set in. she was seeing ghosts of the past. often happy ones. and resigns to the futility of living at all. it seemed all meaningless. and pointless. she wakes up to the crackling of the storm elemental. it had more spirit she thought, compared to the one held at the églantine. the églantine was rothaide's former home. it was a cruise ship. and she was its resident priestess.
it had just been several weeks before the awful incident where the plaque overwhelmed the crew. save her. and now she is hastily employed by devlin. a half elf wizard who owns the ravenstorm. her new home.
inside her chambers, she lights up two incense and set them apart in front of her. one on her left and the other on her right. she sits in the lotus position and begins to meditate and pray for souls departed. she misses her old friends terribly. she was both glad to be alive and disoriented for having survived. she is having pangs of guilt over it. why was she spared? she contemplates and offers her woes to boldrei.
her meditations are interrupted by a soft knocking at her door. it is the one called gian, beckoning her to join on an errand that the captain needs. the ghosts of the past would have to wait.
