Grappled!
Without further ado, the Ravenstorm lifts off from Precarious and heads up into the sky. At the helm, Devlin navigates the ship from the Docks at the lower side of Sharn and maneuvers it towards the higher towers. Both Rourke and Rothaide are at the ship's galley, each drinking a cup of coffee - the late night air of the City of Tower a bit too cold for their taste - each lost in his own thoughts.
Suddenly, Rothaide gasps. Rourke looks up from the other side of the table that the elf's eyes have turned white and almost silver appearance. Rourke has known Rothaide long enough to know that this is a sign that the Void Disciple is experiencing one of her visions.
“Roth?” Rourke silently asks, wary that he might disturb the elf causing her to lose her vision.
“Steady yourself.” Rothaide whispers as she grabs hold of the large table in front of her.
The warmage quickly follows the warning and does the same. Rourke has barely taken hold of the table when the ship suddenly gives a hard lurch causing the cutlery and coffee mugs to fly off in various directions and spilling their contents on both.
The ship suddenly becomes still, Rourke realizes they’ve come to a dead stop. He takes a moment to check on Rothaide. The elf is now standing beside the table but still lost in her void trance.
The sound of footsteps causes the red haired human to check at the galley’s entrance. From there, the figure of Gian appears.
“Are you two alright?” The artificer asks as he surveys the room. “We’re…
“… under attack” Rothaide finishes the human’s sentence before losing consciousness as her trance ends.

Both Gian and Rourke, after making sure that Rothaide is safe and secure in the Galley, quickly make to the forecastle deck. They arrive almost at the same time both Devlin and Coreen appear from the helm.
From where they’re standing, Rourke can easily make out two of the four grappling hooks that Gian had told him while they were at the Galley. They looked like they were tied to the towers around the ship and held the ship in place. But it was not the hooks which caught his attention. Three gnolls where on the forecastle deck; Two were in leather armor and had long bows which were trained on the people at the helm and at the forecastle entrance. The third one was in partial metal armor and wielded a bastard sword in one hand. It is this third gnoll that addresses the crew of the Ravenstorm.
“Attention crew of this elemental ship.” The gnoll states in heavily accented common. “You are under attack by the illustrious Bomu clan of warriors! We’re here to take you’re cargo. Cooperate and no one gets hurt.”
As if to emphasize his point, one gnoll and three humans on floating soarsleds - crystal platforms capable of flying within the boundaries of the city – aim more longbows at the crew members.
From the side of the ship, a cracking sound can be heard and the ship buckles once again.

uh-oh
now we need a (battle)map
How many ships are attacking? I agree with Rourke... we need a map and also any signs of a visible ship.
here is what i'm suggesting... rourke, gian, and rothaide take care of the boarding party.
i'll cast stinking cloud on the human and three hobgoblins running those four soarsleds (this scene reminds of spiderman).
if these "hobgoblins" are far apart from one another, i'll target the stinking cloud on the nearest one, and then use wind's favor to move the cloud to the nearby soarsled.
does that sound realistic?
I was actually contemplating on dispelling the magic of the soarsleds...=D
But I guess the stinking cloud oughta work too.
ofcourse...we should wait to see the lay-out of the combatants before we try anything...=p
ugh! give me a day or two to come up with the map. forgot it's month end this week. he he!
basically the huaman and the three hobgoblins are at the forecastle - area one on the ravenstorm map.
Rourke and Gian are at the strairs near area 5.
Coreena and Devlin are at area 7.
The soarslead are flying 40 feet off the ship. Two near and surrounding the helm and two at either of the rear part of the elemental ring.
finally was able to come up with a rought map.
based on your actions, it is initiative time. Rolls came out as:
Devlin 8 (10)
Coreen 7
Gian 5 (8)
Rourke 13 (16)
Gnolls / Humans 18
Gnoll Fighter 9
The gnolls and humans ready their action by aiming their bows.
It's rourke's action. Just send me your posts.
P.S. I changed hobgoblins to gnolls.
Devlin casts stinking cloud on the two nearest soarsleds.
Devlin, It’s Roruke’s turn first (then The Gnoll fighter, then you – excited?! He he!)
Just some notes:
a) The gnoll/humans on the soarsleds have readied actions (and may shoot before you can cast the spell – of course they would still need to hit and Devlin still has the concentration checks.
b) The stinking cloud spell. Would reach the guys on the soarsleds. However, the radius of the cloud is only 20 feet. That’s not enough to cover two people since they’re approximately 40 feet away from each other.
But then again, we'll see first what Rourke comes up with...
can we have a map of the scene?
Edit the post to include the map.
Rothaide will then be asssumed to have an initiative count of 4.
Rothaide is assumed to be near by the stiars wheer Rourke and Gian are located.
(Will include her token in the next map)
hmmm...I was actually thinking of going invisible before I stepped out of the galley..I''m out of the galley na pala...
Rico,
Would you still allow to do this action? If not, I'll be casting scorching ray on the dwarf looking guy near me (my side of the ship) and then duck back into the galley for cover.
No prob. Since there was a warning that the ship was under attack, Rourke could easily haev casted the invisibility spell just before appearing in the galley.
Send me a post then of Rourke's action.
Hmm..I was trying to imagine the situation from the time Rothaide went unconcious.
From what I've read, it seems Gian and Rourke decided to escort/carry Rothaide to her quarters below deck before heading up to the forecastle (as if alam ko kung ano yun...basta sa taas).
I suppose it would go someting like this:
***
"umph...she's kinda heavy for a girl..." Rourke said. He had instinctively tried to lift Rothaide to her feet.
"Allow me." Gian said as he easily lifted the cleric over his shoulder.
"I suppose we'll have to store er hide her for the moment...?" Gian asked rhetorically.
"She's our cleric! - We'll need..." Rourke protested.
"She unconcious and they're just goblins on soarsleds." Gian retorted.
"Who are tryng to board a ship of this size? - They're being overly confident." Rourke reasoned out loud.
"Goblins. Not very smart." Gian said with a grin.
"Oh...right." Rourke conceded.
Rourke had already been fumbling around his pockets.
"Still we can't be too careful." Rourke said as he pulled out an ornately carved bar of wood.
Rourke traced the arcane symbols on the schema and his figure began to dim and fade into transparency before completely disappearing.
"I'll keep incognito till I'm more sure what we're dealing with, if you don't mind." Rourke's voice came from thin air.
"After you..." Rourke directed at Gian.
***
Rourke will be trying to spot for the sled rider with any visible spell component pouches or wands on his person. He'll then be casting summon swarm on that target.
(It's still early comments before I post this officially? I just went and typed this on the fly)
er..i meant 1d4+1 (swarm? of)dustform hawks via Summon Desert Ally. D-oh...
hehe..they're Gnolls na pala...still, I don't think Gnolls are very smart either?
Then again, their favored class is ranger...so they would be very wise? Pfeh...
Am changing my summons to a swarm of bats (still via Summon Desert Ally, Sandstorm p122)
